SPOUDEA TA LAHANA

L. to R.: Tim Zanetos, Nick Polites, Maria Kididis, Mary Kalvakis, Vasso (Pappas) Athineos

In the last 25 years community members can recall only one variety show, one play, and perhaps a couple of minstrels. The most recent major production was in March, 1969. Spoudea ta Lahana (Big Deal!), which was directed by Dr. George Jameson, was a farce/comedy and was a big success. It was a present-day play typifying a Greek- American household. It was reminiscent of tragic Greek theater with all the anisihies and stenohories of daily life.

VARIETY SHOW -1971

In 1971 the community put on a variety show. Patterned after the TV show,"Laugh In," it was a series of vignettes, one- liners, and quick cut-aways. Lots of people participated, and the timing of the comedy was excellent.
