and the groundbreaking for our new cathedral. The speaker for the dinner was Mr.
Tom Zanetos, local businessman and son of
Anthony Zanetos, one of the founders of this
community.
The next day, May 31, was Sunday, and
the church was packed as hundreds of parishioners came to celebrate the ceremonial
ground- breaking. Greek School children holding balloons, a color guard of Evzones and
Amalias lining the steps to the church, television coverage, and visits by politicians, leaders, and Bishop Maximos of Pittsburgh, made
it a day unlike any other in our history.

On August 23 a large group from the
church community went to see the Clippers
play baseball at Cooper Stadium. The entertainment between innings was The Famous
Chicken from San Diego, California. The
Chicken (Ted Giannoulas) made a brief stop
; at the church to meet the children and pose
for pictures.
