For at least 32 years, the Philoptochos has participated in the annual U.N. Festival held the first weekend in November. Over the years, the event has moved from the Ohio State Fairgrounds to the Veterans' Auditorium. Members of the Philoptochos work long hours preparing foods and pastries to serve the public. This is probably their biggest money maker each year.

Co-chairmen for the 1987 U.N. Festival booth were Beth Cotillion and Mary Metro.

FIFTY PLUS VIPS

Started as an independent organization in December of 1985, Fifty Plus VIPS (Very Important People) was originally part of the Philoptochos. It was developed to provide some form of entertainment and fellowship
for our senior citizens. Quite a few people showed an interest in attending the functions although they did not qualify as "seniors," so the age level was lowered to include people 50 and over. Thus the name, "Fifty Plus VIPS." They have a monthly birthday celebration, usu- ally a carry-in pot luck. In addition, the leaders organize excursions to plays, musicals, floral displays, and anything that might be of interest to this age group.
