GEORGE J. KONTOGIANNIS
Born in 1940 in Martin's Ferry, Ohio,
George Kontogiannis moved to Columbus over
20 years ago. A graduate of Yorkville High
School, he received a Bachelor of Architecture
degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
He took state exams and was registered in
1965, a good three years ahead of the normal
five-year wait.
After a short career with Kellam-Foley
and the State of Ohio, George opened his own
business, George J. Kontogiannis and Associates, in 1968. Today the firm is located in One
Americana at 400 South 5th Street, a building
of their own design.
One of three children, George has his
ancestral roots in Chios. When word came that
Annunciation was proposing a new worship facility, he became immediately interested and
offered his services. Working with Randy
Woodings, they came up with a proposal which
was accepted by the community.
Construction begins in early 1988. Mr.
Kontogiannis has pledged that all architectural
work, advice, renderings and consultations will
be done at no cost to the church. He looks
forward to the completion of the project and
the satisfaction of a job well done. He wants to see the complex utilized
